Just Like That!

With a blink of an eye it’s officially summer! The weather in the Northeast has been hot, muggy with notable rainfall throughout. There are no complaints over here as I have grown fond of the cooler seasons. However, I’m ready to wake up with the sun already out.

There’s absolutely nothing like starting one’s day with the warmth of the sun and birds chirping. The intention to have a good day presents itself like a small mountain with appropriate climbing gear. As a person that lives along the coast the best way to start my day is to walk along the water. These moments are especially fruitful when I have a rough start with school drop off (my toddler’s attempts of being one hundred percent independent leads to some stressful mornings). Taking a brisk walk while listening to the water lap against the sea wall is extremely satisfying. My muscles relax, my heartbeat is steady and my arms swing loosely at my side. All is right in the world-or so it seems as I watch the boats out in the bay while birds fly high above.

I love this time of day.

The world seems peaceful. Dog walkers, those fishing and even parents with young babies strapped to their chest are pleasant as we all exchange pleasantries along the boardwalk.

Just like that, I realize I have reached the end of the walking path and it’s time to turn around. My increase in stamina has grown throughout the colder seasons and now with warmer weather and less weight my walk is faster than I could have only imagined six months earlier.

There are so many unknown factors that permeate throughout the current social climate. I can’t nor will I even attempt a deep dive into the political unrest we see not only here in US, but also abroad. There’s rumblings of uncertainty as we make our way into another election cycle. There are a multitude of concerns circling around us like a predator closing in on its prey.

Nonetheless, it’s important for us to take time to enjoy any beauty we may see within the everyday and limit complaints of it being too hot or too rainy as we barrel towards uncertainty. Dear reader, let us continue to find the beauty within the chaos and always seek the silver lining of life. Until next time, blessings.

  1. Great Read. I need to start making time to walk. One thing I miss about living on the coast is the Beach. I would visit often and take in the sights, sounds and smells. It was my peaceful place. Now I have to travel at least 3 hours to get to the beach.

      1. Oh yea! I didn’t even think about that. I believe there is a couple of lakes nearby. I will have to check them out.

  2. Yes… to much more beautiful mornings and warmer nights. This portion of the season is definitely my favorite for sure. The idea of being able to take early morning bike rides. Even take a hike at any point within the day, fills me with great joy. Not to mention the ability to be able to swim in my nearby lake. No one should have any excuse, as to why they’re not in constant exploration of what the day has in store for them.
