Colder than….

“Good Health is True Wealth”

Each day it’s starting to feel colder and colder. Just yesterday, there were snow flurries that filled the afternoon sky. The brisk air feels surprisingly refreshing in the early mornings. I am proud to say I am in the fourth week of early morning workouts. How early you may wonder dear reader? My goal is to always complete my workout by 6:00am (although there has been a few sessions where I move a bit slower than other mornings and I’m completing my workout by 6:20am). I have a history of working out, then stopping, then starting again.

This time around I wanted to take my time, start off slow and increase duration and stamina little by little. Thus far, this plan has been working. SLOW and STEADY. I have found myself feeling stronger and more confident with each morning session. There’s something eerily comforting about starting my day off with just myself. I brew a 10 oz. cup of coffee, grab my headphones and get lost in steady Afrobeat, reggae, hip hop and melodic instrumentals. The eclectic amalgam of music sets the tone for me to get lost in a world of free weights, biking, walking, jogging and stretching. Although it hasn’t been a full month, I feel confident this time around. I want to believe my consistency will prove to be more permanent than the past. As I was driving home from this gym this morning, I was thinking the real challenge will be when the temperature continues to drop. Often, the colder the temperature, the more likely I am to silence my alarms and snuggle deeper and deeper under the luxury of heavy comforters.

I am looking forward to how the next month plays out, many often say one needs 21 days to form a habit. However, when it comes to leaving a warm and toasty bed for the cold outdoors, I think I may need more days than that! Wish me luck dear reader. Please share any Fall and Winter routines you are currently taking part in to promote the best versions of yourself. Blessings.

  1. First and foremost I would like to commend you on committing to this transformation. You mentioned in earlier post that were beginning your journey and you have stuck to it. It’s not an easy one, in fact it is a lifestyle. Don’t stop under any circumstances. It’s much easier to get out of shape, than it is to get into it. Those feel good endorphins are the best way to jumpstart my day, and one you suggest for others as well. Clearly you too see the benefit. Enjoy your holiday and continue to sweat it out as often as possible. The benefits are everlasting.
