A Change Is Going To Come

Time moves quickly, or is it us that moves quickly through time? I’m always reminded of change living in New England. Although there has been a significant change in weather patterns, one may still observe change happening as early morning rays of sun quickly diminishes. The once sunny mornings that led to hot and sticky afternoons has shifted drastically to cool mornings, gray clouds and often cooler afternoons with cold rain. How quickly we move from open toed sandals and knee length dresses to covered footwear and light jackets with hats. The change in weather brings with it a change in behavior.

I find myself more hunkered down-desiring hearty stews, chunky, buttered bread and warm teas at all times of the day. There’s also a shift to move more intentionally as it relates to staying connected to those I hold dear. This past weekend my family and I came together for a potluck. The reason: there was no reason. No death, funeral, birthday or birth. Rather, it was a push to make an effort to be together just because. Dear reader, the joy in prepping and planning (although my contribution was catered, shhhhhhh). We laughed, we danced, we took shots of Jamaican white rum and passed babies back and forth.

We built memories for the sheer joy of celebrating family. This family event was on the heels of an unplanned event with some wonderful friends. The steady evolution of isolation to dinners and drinks is exhilarating. My wish is for this intentionality to continue. As time continues to move as it is I wish for continued peace, joy and intentionality in all things. What about you dear reader, what changes have you seen happening as we see a change in seasons as well as a change in the ways we interact with each other? I am looking forward to reading your responses.

  1. The changes in weather definitely have impacted me. The mornings of just running out of the house carefree, have shifted to, where’s my hoody? Do I need a hat? Simply to take it all off in an hour or two. The joys of fall, but I enjoy it. Nothing should ever stay the same. Family is so essential, they are your home base for all that life throws at you. Therefore, it’s so important to cherish that time with them. Especially during unthemed family gatherings. I don’t do it as often as I would like to, but I am getting to a place where I suggest a gathering more often.
