Cessation

In my most recent post, I discussed the use of artificial intelligence in our everyday life. In Fully Automated, I explore the changes I have observed in a relatively short time frame. As I am listening to one of my favorite pods they begin to talk about A.I. in music. Some of you may have heard some songs created by A.I. Recently, there has been some cover songs using Rhianna’s voice that has gone viral. There are a plethora of songs being created using the voices of popular musicians without actually using the musicians.

Artificial intelligence seems to have barreled into our collective consciousness at warp speed. The reality is we have been inundated with the use A.I. for a very long time. I would argue we have been introduced to the use of technology in a way where we have come to embrace what feels like convenience. I remember listening to a news report about the collection of biomedical data. “Not me“, I thought to myself. I want to keep my data private. Then I had to stop myself. Wait, I enjoy my smartwatch (keeping track of my steps, calories burned and even my heart rate; essentially biomedical data).

We are now at a place where not only are our phones, tv’s and watches “smart” our homes and cars are too. The use of artificial intelligence has permeated in all aspects of our society. We are even now at a place in our society where we soon will be able to recreate our deceased loved ones in order to have them with us always. In addition to moving beyond death-Elon Musk’s Neuralink was recently approved to begin human trials. That’s right dear readers, the use of, “brain-computer interfaces” that will connect one’s human brain with A.I. What does this all mean? Not only are we on the verge of many jobs using A.I. completely and human jobs becoming extinct or at the very least having a shift within the consumerism framework, we must also ask ourselves what are the positive and negative attributes to computer chips being implanted in the human brain? Where do you stand dear reader? What are your thoughts?

Blessings.

  1. We can disguise our feelings and support self driving cars. Until there is a loss of human life or lives. What’s the next? Robot babysitters? Get off your asses and do for yourselves. We are the apex predator, but we don’t carry ourselves like anyone who happens to reside at the top of any food chain.

  2. As I previously stated in FULLY AUTOMATED “We enjoy the idea of doing “less”, and receiving the same pleasures of actually “doing”. It’s very interesting to see where our choices lead us. From the looks of it seemingly right into a world of lifelong codependency. The downside to that is a takeover. I know it sounds extreme, but things are beginning to resemble that of some of our favorite science fiction movies like I ROBOT starring Will Smith. We started out laughably with maybe having a machine vacuum our floors. However, we are so far removed, they’re places in the world now where you can have a robot as a lover and companion. I’m assuming we didn’t realize the path we were on was leading us to self destruction. You don’t realize that until you’re talking to a machine that doesn’t have a prompt for your emotional state.
